April 11, 200818 yr Anyone know if this hammer is all original and what brand it is? This is a really old thread that I stumbled on. I've posted this on a couple of other forums, so you may see it again.Machine Builders Network
April 11, 200818 yr Rutterbush-Looks home made to me. Have seen a few old ones. The shop in Haverhill, IA where we have our monthly meetings has a very ingenious one made well before 1940. Can't run it though, the lineshaft would likely pull the whole building down around our ears. It is a museum now and we actually work in a building next door.
April 11, 200818 yr The eccentric runs down and transfers power to a piece of flat bar on the flat...looks like a weekend design, with too many pints of mead clouding the big picture of elasticity and yield points.
April 11, 200818 yr Author My thoughts also. I had never seen a square anvil on the originals. I thought it amusing to read that thread. THANKS
