Killen31
would someone help me identify these markings on an anvil I just purchased..its a 1916 paragon Swedish anvil..the markings are what looks to be a straight razor on one side and the other is the letter c with an f inside the c.tnx in advance. oh yea almost forgot what does the number 4 mean under the date 1916.also is this a cast or forged anvil ?? ive just noticed that it appears to be a crown above the straight razor.what does this mean ?? Tubalcain2
your anvil is a Soderfors, one of the best, if not the very best anvil ever made. the razor and crown part of the soderfors logo. the are cast solid high carbon steel. Quite the score!
Killen31
do you have any idea what the letter f inside the letter c represents ?? think maybe it stands for cast forged ??
jeremy k
If it was cast - it would not be forged - my guess would be an inspectors mark.
Tubalcain2
I would agree. My Soderfors does not have it.
