Zigblackwind Posted February 22, 2008 Share Posted February 22, 2008 Hi, my name's Dustin. I live in Columbia SC and I just found this website on wikipedia and figured that I would join the forums. I'm looking to get started with bladesmithing as a hobby. I've been doing research for about a year now and I'm ready to get my feet wet. So far the equiptment that I've collected is an old anvil about 50 lbs, a pair of hammers, and some metal files that all belonged to my great uncle, a 1/3rd horse power bench grinder and some steel bars. The face of the anvil has some large dents in it but its better than nothing and I'm sure I'll put a couple more as I'm learning. Reminds me of when I started hobby/smithing many years ago. By the way, there's a bunch of bladesmiths at IFI to learn from. There are links on the 'Home' page to help you get started. Enjoy!
