Hey Guys,

Just saw this anvil pop up, but the guy posted almost no info.  Any ideas before I go take a look?  21" face, 11" high... i think thats the Vulcan logo.  But the only other marking seems to be "10"

"10" is 100 pounds for Vulcan. 

 

Edit: I think 13 is the last 2 of the year of manufacture so 1913. Someone please confirm this. 

A #10 under the horn at the foot would mean 100 lbs, but a 21" face on a Vulcan would seam to be more like 200 lbs.

I should rephrase, 21" from the tip of the horn to the opposite side of the face.

That should make it 100 lbs.

Thanks, I contacted them.  If they get back to me I am going to go pick it up.  Its in such great shape, can't pass up on it.

How much are they asking?

I believe the asking price was $350. It was in nice shape, but some will say Vulcans are on the bottom level of anvils. I have a 150 pound Vulcan and it has done me right, but I don't treat it wrong. They have really thin faces so keep that in mind. It has been said to only hit hot metal on it. Somewhere I have a thread that shows the thin Vulcan face. 

Bottom-of-the-line is a relative term. Sure they aren't Hay Buddens, but they aren't Harbor Freights either. $350 is reasonable, but it never hurts to try to talk them down to $275.

Ya the prices in my area are crazy.  most 150lb peter wrights are going for 700-900 dollars. 

found some NC 100 lbs anvils for like 400 as well

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't buy it. I said "some will say its bottom on the bottom level". Not me as I love my Vulcan. It's such a step up from the RR track I was pounding on before that. Go get your Vulcan and enjoy it.
