made an anvil kinda

Featured Replies

So I posted a while back asking about anvils and got a lot of helpful feed back and this is what I ended up being able to make. It is two 14" chunks of trolley track welded to itself to give more it more meat. I know it is not ideal but it worked OK once I got it held down

Ayup, that'll work. If you can find another piece weld it to the other side and flip it over. Hopefully it'll be a few inches or even a foot longer. If it's only a little longer offset it so the extra is extending from one end and make your horn. It it's enough longer you can make a round horn and a square horn on opposite ends.

The technique makes a good working anvil it just doesn't look like a "real:rolleyes:" London pattern anvil. Looks count a lot less with me than function. Of course that's just me. B)

That suggestion was a just in case thing. Horns are kind of over rated I rarely use the horn except as a bottom fuller and that's sort of a PITA as it's tapered so you have to compensate. Don't invest a lot of effort trying to come up with a horn. However if the opportunity arises having one can't hurt so long as it doesn't fall horn first on your foot.
