the iron dwarf
Today I got a SULZER forge, it has a date painted on the motor of 1944, motor is 110v and it is also hand cranked. looks like it has never been used motor works and so does the hand crank, not started cleaning it up yet but will take some more pictures when I can speed controller with the cover off, motor etc. anyone seen one of these before? looks like maker was swiss and started in 1775 and they are still going
Charlotte
Fantastic! Hard to say not to use it but it might go to a museum or for a collector! Great find! Actually, I'd be a little concerned about the windings of the motor and the other insulation on the electrics. They often break down with age. OTOH I would make a great conversation piece for your fairs.!
the iron dwarf
original power lead was perished and was replaced for testing, other wiring is inside steel conduit so at worst would trip something. I tried it on a site transformer ( here most site tools are run on 55v - 0v - 55v, the 0v being ground so voltage between lines is 110v ) and tested for earth leakage. when cleaned up a bit I may contact the makers
