John McPherson Posted January 6, 2016 Share Posted January 6, 2016 100 years ago Barre VT was the center of the granite tombstone & monument business in the US, and there were many quarries, and a few big tool makers. Ahern had the reputation of a genius with making and heat treating tools for the industry, and ended up working with one of the big makers. They even used his name in their marketing.
