It helps to have the leg attached to something. The shop in which I took over had been built in 1972. I took over in 2010.

All that time the leg was not fastened to anything.......at all. Thus, obviously, even some blacksmiths don't know to attach it to something. Get the word out.

It is there for a reason. I had never seen one before I started my work and I knew it wasn't right as turning the handle would result in the entire vise swinging side to side.
