Water cooled tuyere ?

Featured Replies

I have the means to make a stainless steel water cooled tuyere, the only thing that is holding me back is I do not know how thick of material to use. Does anyone have a recommendation.

0.125" should be fine. Suppose you could go thinner depending on the grade of stainless, but i think in this case you want it thin enough for the water to carry away the heat but thick enough to withstand some hot spots. That being said,  I just use 3/4 back iron pipe and swap it with a new piece once or twice a year and never got around to building my water tank - it's a cheap enough consumable.

"It's a cheap enough consumable.".........sounds like my way of thinking.;)

I may start out with that and see what my mileage is stainless is expensive but if I am burning threw the iron pipe it may be an option thanks for the info
