macbruce
Saw this on Denver cl...........................''Very rare blacksmith bolt forming swage anvil. Has two interchangeable dies to form the shank, then form the bolt heads on the upper swage. Foot clamp to hold the dies. Very heavy, I estimate about 600lbs''. ricpuls
I have the exact same thing in my shop. 600lbs is correct. I think it was made in Greenfield Mass. Also have many die blocks with it. It has a ratcheted adjustment for different bolt lengths. Because of the size of the bolt heads and shafts in the dies, I'm guessing it formed bolts for bridges and other heavy construction using wood beams. Picked it up in VT. Frosty
Welcome aboard Ricpuls, glad to have you. Do you use it? Have any good stories to tell, jokes, puns, etc? We LOVE pics, maybe show us this bolt header(?) in action? Frosty The Lucky.
