LastRonin
Well, I said in my thread about the knife I replaced the scales of that I was inspired to make my own from scratch... so here it is. I started with a small piece of 1084 about 1/8" thick 1" wide and 4" long. It was already annealed, was a scrap piece from a machine shop I visited for work. I haven't built/bought a 2x72 grinder yet, so a 4" disc grinder, a selection of Nicholson files, sandpapers and sanding blocks have gotten me to this point. The picture is the blade sanded to 320 grit, just getting into 400, still have more 400 work to go. Then I'll ht.
Steve Shimanek
is this for a folding knife?
LastRonin
Yes. I am trying a liner-lock. I have the blade sanded out through 400 grit and will ht this weekend. Also will be working on the liners, spacer, pins and scales. Will have more pics to add later.
LastRonin
Ok. Been real busy with my day job and family stuff, so not much progress. Didn't get to ht the blade yet. The material I was planning to use for the liners is throwing a kink... it is destroying my drill bits. I don't know exactly what it is... so I'm dropping back and going to find a known product to use instead.
LastRonin
Wow... I need to remember where I put the pieces and get back at it. Though now the title is wrong. LOL I made my 'First Real Knife' this past weekend.
