Jan G Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Hello all I have just joined the forum after booking myself onto a 3 day course in Exeter in the beginning of May, I have no experience of smithing but recently have seen a few smithing demonstrations and have always wanted to have ago so found a course and went for it!! I have no idea where this will lead me but with only 7 years left in the Armed forces until my time is done I need to find something to do when I leave and maybe this could be it or not? and just a great pastime I am a Petty officer Seaman in the Royal navy and enjoy to make decorative rope work and splicing ropes and wire also a trained sailmaker have turned my hand from everything from awnings to washbags, Leatherwork is also all part of the job and I have made some knife handles and leather pouches.
