February 19, 201412 yr I guess in the time ive been on here this is my first blade posted. Been too busy admiring yalls to post my own. :)So here it is. Its a farriers rasp with elk and steel pins. I made it for my county 4H extention agent. Shes done a lot to help further my equine knowledge (hence the rasp). I had been saving the elk for somthin special. I figured this would count. I wound up liking it so much that I made myself a hoof pick with the same motif. (Ill throw in a pic of that for novelty sake) And of course it shaves. Blade- 4 1/8 Handle- 5 1/4 Spine- 3/16 Pins- 2@1/4 & 2@1/8 Sanded to 600grit Comments, questions and suggestions welcome and appreciated.
February 19, 201412 yr Gifts from blacksmiths are the very best goodwill in our communities! Nice material use and nice knife, too! I would be proud to carry this one :) Good onya! Dave
February 19, 201412 yr The knife is cool! Only suggestion I would make on future knives is to make the bevel longer and thinner. Your bevel ends so abruptly it seems like it would have difficulty cutting anything thicker than the bevel. Example: If you tried to cut an apple, it would split open before the knife could cut very deep That make sense? I really like file knives with teeth left on so as to show what the material was though. Keep up the progress :) Scott
