Logan Jensen
Attached are a few pictures from my propane forge build. It started out as a scrap piece of 10-inch drill pipe. The main body is 16 inches long and the end caps are each 4 inches. In hindsight, I should have went with smaller end caps to save on the weight. I was so excited when the kaowool came in that I had to get the body insulated. First test fire with one burner and using firebricks to seal the back end Finished the plumbing. First real fire after sealing the kaowool.
VaughnT
That's a stout one! Looks like some excellent construction. One bit of advise, block off half of the forge so you're only using one burner. 24" of chamber is great if you're trying to heat-treat a long blade, but it's a gas hog when you're only working on something small. My forge is 18" OAL and I routinely block off half of it because there's no need to heat the entire thing if I'm only working on a small knife or the like.
