Jacques
This is my first go at forging an axe. Starting material was EN9 (1055), 40mm round. The eye was punched, and the rest forged out by hand. Handle is laminated oak with rosewood insert, finished with linseed oil and beeswax. I made a lot of mistakes, starting off with punching the eye off-center. Took me about 12 hours over a period of 5 weeks, a lot of that time spend fixing mistakes. Loneforge
Seems like you know exactly what you didn't want to happen....now make another bunch to practice away what you think are mistakes....That's a good looking tool.......Does it chop wood.....Than it's a good Axe. Love the handle...did you bend the oak to do the insert or cut it to shape?
Gergely
Congrats, I think it's a very nice piece. Minor flaws don't take the plusses away. If I could make an axe like that for the first try, I'd be very-very satisfied. Go on! Bests Gergely
