ThomasPowers Posted January 14, 2019 Share Posted January 14, 2019 Please look at the improvised anvil thread; you should be able to get make a great anvil for under US$100 and I've done several for under US$20 getting blocks of steel at the scrapyard about an hour south of Albuquerque. Have you connected with the local ABANA affiliate yet? http://www.nm-artist-blacksmiths.org/ Blacksmithing is best taught face to face and many questions with a local flavour are best asked locally rather than on a world wide forum. I buy most of my tools at fleamarkets and yard sales and scrapyards---bought a 3/4" blacksmiths handled punch at a local fleamarket down here for US$3 today and passed up several score of appropriate hammers for forging cause I have a bunch and now only by them when they unusual; or unusually cheap.
