old rascal
Can someone tell me where this would be used? I only have it in the hardy hole to get a picture as I don't think it would be used there. Would the tapered base be mounted in a stump? The swages are graduated from less than an 1/16" to 3/8" as close as I could tell by laying a drill bit in them. VaughnT
They're meant for sheet-metal work, but you can certainly use it as a swage block for small stock. I wouldn't use it stuck in the hardy hole. Make a stump out of dimensional lumber so the stake is at a decent working height and use it. Lots of good things you can do with something like that! Jim Coke
Greetings Old Rascal, The anvil was designed to fit in a multi stake plate.. You can purchase nice single mounting plate on E bay for a reasonable price.. Great tool if you know how to use it.. Good luck... I forgot to say that they are typically not hardened for blacksmith work... Forge on and make beautiful things. Jim
