The New England Blacksmiths Invite you to
NEB Spring 2013 Meeting

To discover, to help

May 17-19, 2013 at Morrell Metalsmiths, Featuring Toby Hickman

About Toby Hickman

Toby Hickman has been blacksmithing since 1970. He has been forging on self-contained pneumatic hammers since 1981 when he bought his first Nazel 2B Forging Hammer. He owned and operated Waylan Smithy outside of Petaluma, California from 1973 until he sold it lock, stock, and barrel, in the summer of 2002. He then opened his current shop, lost Coast Forge, on the Mendocino Coast of California.

For the New England Blacksmiths, he will be working three days: Friday, (a separate work- shop with a separate fee), a hammer workshop teaching basic hammer skills, freehand forg- ing, and the use and forging of hand-held tools. Saturday, with the help of a striker, he will forge a few flowers of different forging flavors. In the afternoon on Saturday, he will move on to surface chasing in steel plate. Sunday he will demonstrate the Habermann approach to repousse in copper as he has come to use it.
