Pug}{maN
i was not going to get into knife makeing but all i seem to get asked about is knifes , so i wipped this one out to see if i liked doing it , was fun and i like the way it came out, i do not like the nice finish im more into mountain man stile i guess you would say, not 100% on what the steel was but i cooled it fast with water then heated it up slowley at the forge till i seen the yellow then the dark brown then blueish then fast cool in water agen , took a edge good ? cut some wood with it and it stayed sharp.. anyway did i do ok for my first one ? will be looking around and getting some reading done here so hope to be showing more soon... Jon Smith
Love that crazy blade profile! What steel? Depending what you used, a blue temper (being somewhere around 475-550*) may be a bit much for an edge
Pug}{maN
I'm not shure what the steel was. And it was more purple than blue..
Jon Smith
Might still be a bit much...but if it looks like it'll hold the edge then you should be good. I normally go with a deep yellow/ light brown temper for an hour in the oven for 5160. Either way, welcome to the addiction that is bladesmithing
1forgeur
Neet. Looks like a good all around knife to me.
