Did you have any problems getting the O1 to weld with everything els? it was for your question above , as many folks here work with and HT O1 and make very exceptional knives and do not have issues Forging it properly or getting it to retain an edge . I was asking if he had any problems forge welding it to the other steels because it is a completely different creature and it isn't a common addition to damascus because of the different properties. FasterFred Posted November 12, 2012 Author Share Posted November 12, 2012 Samcro, yes i have made several blades from O1 and know how to properly ht them. Metal99,this billt started as 3 layers of 1095 and 2 of 1018. After the 1st weld and draw i added some 15n20 and O1 both 3/32nds thick in between the fold.
