Dodge
Sorting through more of Dad's stuff and ran across a bag of these. Any clue as to what it is? I'm guessing some sort of sensor or sender?? But it seems it would need to be pressed in a hole; no threads... Thanks for any input. Scott

quick60
Looks like maybe an early design for a cleco? Used for holding two pieces of sheet metal together in a lap joint so they can be welded securely.
Jacques
Definitely a cleco. I hope you've got the pliers that come with it. I don't use mine much but when I do they are indispensible.

Not having the pliers is just a reason to fire up the forge and make them.
Dodge
Thanks guys. And now I know what those funny looking pliers are too. Can't wait to try it out :D Edit: This is what I love abut this place. We are not JUST blacksmiths. There is a very talented and diversely knowledgeable crowd we have here
Dodge
Keith, I believe they are closely related :D After further research I found that they are in deed, a temporary fastener under the name "Wedgelock" (its stamped on the handle of the pliers) which seem to be just like Clecos after viewing the video above. also some neat edge clamps for clamping the edges of sheet metal. Got pic I'll post after dinner :) Scott
