My studies are 2 years of tech. school (mach. shop), 6 months under Elmer Roush, 2 years under Russell O'dell, and 1 week with Peter Ross. Wife and I run Cedar Branch Forge (in east tenn.), which just burnt to the ground losing everything. The new shop is up and limping along for now. I am a hinge maker spec. in Am. Colonial period work, 99% goes into historic homes/museums all over this country(U.S.A.). I hope this is a proper intro. Thanks, tyree

deglen
Hi James, I am new also. I posted a question about hinges and see that you are a specialist on hinges. How lucky. Is there a way to determine how what type and strength of :confused:hinge will be appropriate for a large gate or is it trial and error (i.e. experience)? Ferrous Beuler
Welcome Tyree. East Tennesee is some of the most beautiful country God ever made. I have an Aunt in Smyrna, getting on now at 84. My folks are on their way to see her again next week. Last time they went down in the spring they had the good fortune to meet and speak with a son of Sgt. Alvin York at his home/ museum in Pall Mall. Nice folks all around in that region. From your post I gather you are the sort of man like a diamond, no matter what you just don't chip. Welcome to the hoedown! Dan:)
