WIP's busy weekend

All from leaf spring. I screwed up the bottom one on the quench. Warped then like a dummy I cracked it. Gonna try and fix it.
On another note....
Can someone tell me the benefit of using stabilized wood for handles? I understand what it is but not sure why or if it is essential in a knife scale for a handle.

What kind of usage will the blade see and what kind of stabilization are you talking about?

If the blade will see a lot of messy use a heavily stabilized handle will make it easier to wash off without the handle messing up or if it will be exposed to bad weather conditions it can help prevent warpage and cracking.

So a fish filet knife is a classic example of a use where *both* factors often come into play---or a blade used to butcher or skin animals.
