January 19, 201214 yr I found this chunk of iron at a local flea market for $5. I am planning to make a small bench top anvil out of it. It's 11 1/2" long, 4" high, 3 1/2" wide, and weighs 42 pounds. Any idea what it was?

January 19, 201214 yr No specifics but it does look like some weights I have seen before---designed to stack between two uprights so you can add or subtract them as needed. Just a guess. What does it spark as?
January 19, 201214 yr Good would be mild steel, bad would be cast iron. Fabulous would be medium to high carbon steel.
January 19, 201214 yr Over here in Mississippi we use it as a in-line weight when bream fishing..best for ultra-lite gear...Use 3 1/2 crickets to catch nice size copper nose bream. One fish feeds the whole community. Good only if hot so eat fast!
