ok guys just wanted to share this, my first tong blank, will be completing the pair next weekend
let me know what what you think, again these are not complete but in process, need to cleanup reins and finish out end, and duh make another on lol!!!!

Had a great time too, didn't ya? Some observations: Your anvil has WAY too sharp of edges. That is going to mess up a lot of work. Don't neck down so far at the pivot. Taper from there out to the end of the rein. Knock off the corners in the grip area. Avoid the temptation to "clean them up" by grinding, learn to appreciate a properly forged finish.

thanks for the comments, the anvil is brand new, i plan to take down the edges a bit,but wanted to get a feel for it before i changed it, though that is on the list this week to do. i plan to chamfer the edges next week, i am trying to stay away from power tools till i learn the proper anvil work for sure, thanks agian

Looks good. Ditto on sharp anvil edges. Have only made a few pair myself. I've found that knocking down the square reins to octogon feels better than going all the way to round...better control.
