fly press question

Featured Replies

I'm following this fly press on an Australian auction site http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0009-57517/engineering-and-toolmaking/fly-press-single-post-approx-75mm-square-with-150mm-stroke-on-mobile-stand . It looks ok but appears to not have a checknut, is there a way around this?

First, a lot of stuff doesn't need a check nut. That looks like a heck of a deal.

Second, if you need depth controll, incoperate a set of kiss blocks in your tooling set up.

Hmmm, that's not a dissimilar size to mine, which came without a checknut. The previous owner must have required a specific depth as there's a section of pipe dropped over the screw to act as a non-adjustable depth stop.

Good luck with the bidding Ian. :)

Thanks for the replies,it seems all is not lost so I might have a go at it, But you know what online auctions are like, the price looks good till the last 5 minutes when all these blokes come out of the woodwork with a flurry of bids :( . It's only about an hours drive from here as it is pick up only, but I'm amazed there's a bloke from a town in Victoria bidding, who's about an 22 hour round trip away!( He must really want it).

Cheers Ian
