February 15, 201115 yr Look at the top link first, then the second link...Nothing else to say really http://cgi.ebay.com/MINT-Blacksmith-Anvil-Forge-DIAMOND-2Lb-Rounding-Hammer-/190501476824?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5ac5d9d8 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM662618701P?sid=IDx20101019x00001a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=SPM2382619902
February 15, 201115 yr Guess none of the bidders thought to check out Diamond's site to compare prices. LOL. The economy must be getting better. :D
February 15, 201115 yr Author Ive got the same hammer, paid $36 a little over a year ago I saw a NC rounding hammer sell for more than it go's for new a little while back..
February 15, 201115 yr I sent the seller a note in the "ask the seller a question" box. I told him the hammer sells for about $40.00 new at Sears.
February 15, 201115 yr You guys are just not getting the point here. The Sears hammer has been put on the shelf/display by a stock boy working in the tool section of Sears. The auction hammer has been held (and probably even used) by a REAL BLACKSMITH. Well worth the extra cost as it has the magic(otherwise known as "patina")is already installed by the previous owner.
February 15, 201115 yr I think I have it figured out, they're paying an extra $35 because it has a green label on the hammer....that makes worth a whole lot more. And don't forget that it is listed on ebay as "collectable" that's got to raise the value...going to round up some of my 'used' tools. At this rate I could sell them, buy a replacement and pocket some money LOL
February 15, 201115 yr A while back while visiting a used-tool dealer, a gentleman was there explaining that he was collecting every brass hammer that he could find at premium prices "because they don't make them anymore".
February 15, 201115 yr Well the first one does say "Mint". Should you have someone over to visit you at your forge and you feel that you have bad breath you can eat the hammer. Oh wait, you already "Ate" it when you bought it, never mind. Mark<><
February 15, 201115 yr Here is the reply from the seller. Geeez, they could buy two of them for what they ran this one up to.. I might have to stop by Sears and pick up a few more.. - ironsmyters
