December 20, 200619 yr Author I cal lthem "present openers", as the other I made from a leaf spring has been used to open packages all week(still sharp as all get out too ). They make GREAT gifts and take abou t15 minutes all together make.
December 20, 200619 yr Ron I love the look of that knife, how did you get the cool rustic-looking finish on the blade?
January 4, 200719 yr Julian I think the one pic. you are talkin about I had not complety cleaned to muck off from hardening. Just enough to temper -some of the color is from the temper also. There is lots of things you can do to age a blade -I havent done much of that though. A few things you might try are : Mustard just daub it on - Bleach - leave it outside and rust- I think some use acids but not sure what or how. It depends on what the knife is made from I guess.
January 4, 200719 yr Author If you want to age a blade, just stick it in some diet coke, leave it it for a few days.
January 4, 200719 yr Sorry worng picture Ok check out this knife I allways thought it was a good looker It might be a tiny bit large but why couldnt you scale it down? Ron, Now your talking! Thats a POST! Thanks for the views. Be safe, Be safe! Ted
January 6, 200719 yr Cool bowie!!! I have not been brave enough to try forging a BIG blade yet. I thought about trying a bush kife first. Any specific problems to watch for when scaling up your knife forging?
January 7, 200719 yr :D That people don't start calling you a 'Sword' maker instead of a 'Knife' maker perhaps?
January 8, 200719 yr Author Cool bowie!!! I have not been brave enough to try forging a BIG blade yet. I thought about trying a bush kife first. Any specific problems to watch for when scaling up your knife forging? Scaling up? Just warpage and things like that. And being able to heat the whole length evenly.
