My name is Weldon and I'm just getting started in this most honored endeavor of shaping the black iron. I'm sitting in with a blacksmith this weekend for 8 hours of instruction into the basics, so I'm as a raw and useless as a persimon in early spring right now. I have volunteered at a local living history museum where I can go in and pound away and practice for free as one of their blacksmiths. Though that's a name/title that I do not deserve at all as of yet. I hope in time that does not remain true. I will do my best not to ask typical newbie questions and will peruse the old posts.
