July 8, 201015 yr Hello all Iam just about done forging my 2nd knife and its a leap forward over my first knife. Its a hidden tang knife and I would like to use bone or horn for the handle. However paying $30 for the horn + shipping online is a bit much. Do any of you have perhaps a whitetail antler base lying around somewhere, that you would be willing to part with at a reasonable price ? I went shed hunting and found nothing....its a bit late for that anyway but I thought I would take a chance. I would even do a nice wood, but there the prices are even worse for a nice piece of exotic wood. Anyways thanks in advance.

I have pieces of things like burl, exotic and curly wood, bone, cow horn and other things that may or may not be suitable depending on how big/thick it needs to be.
July 8, 201015 yr Author The tang is 4 inches long,1/4 inch in height and just a hair shy of 1/8 inch thich. if its small pieces I could make a layered handle. so I would need around 5 inches in total maybe a little extra. I am thinking of having it swell in the rear of the handle. As I said I would pay for the pieces and for the shipping.

My girlfriend bought her dog a section of deer antler as a chew toy. It's at least that big.
