We spent last weekend in Picayune, Mississippi camping and participating in the "Fire in the Swamp" "Summer Solstice" hosted by Larry and Gwendolyn and the Gulf Coast Council. Brian and Lyle demonstrated forging techniques, there were several other demonstrators who also shared their craft techniques. It was really hot! I believe our hosts are considering changing the event to the Spring to avoid the heat. We met a farrier, Deborah Davis, interested in learning and after some coaching from Lyle and Brian had forged about 8 of Brian's horse head bottle openers. They were very well done and I think she's got it down! We were set up next to John Perilloux, ( www.johnperilloux.com )who did some metal pouring and casting pictured below. Also some amazing scrap art by Richard Swenson. Had a great time!
