1084/15n20 mosaic pattern weld by Chad Nichols. Whitetail crown handle with rosewood. Wrought iron buttcap and guard, etched and rust blued. (Well, the buttcap is cold blued. It was originally rust blued. Long story.) Cast coin silver medallion with copper spacer. Wood lined sheath with elk rawhide covering, sewn with artificial sinew.

That is one incredible knife and sheath! The two really work well together and you can see that much thought and planning went into this.
Your friend is a very lucky guy.

On the knife handle I put a few coats of shellac as a basecoat (mainly because of the oiliness of the rosewood), then about three coats of polyurethane. The rawhide got three coats of polyurethane with no base coat. I don't necessarily love the look of heavy varnish, but I hope this knife will see plenty of use and I wanted to make sure it was sufficiently protected from the elements.
