brian.pierson
All, While surfing around EBAY, I found this. I know nothing about it but saw the auction has no reserve so it might go cheap. Just thought I would let the forum know about it. Here is the link.LITTLE GIANT FORGING TRIP HAMMER K-7339 - eBay (item 360219151765 end time Dec-23-09 19:14:59 PST) Brian
Bentiron1946
The only thing that would keep that from going cheap would be the current state of the economy. There are still 4 days plus to go till close of bid. Nice looking hammer.

monstermetal
So by the Serial number is a 50lb hammer... and I would think K-7339 would have to be a real new machine (last one built was 8876) .. Anyone have an idea about what year 7339 would have been built? Also does anyone else have one with a clutch like that? looks like the engagement area is pretty small... makes me wonder what type of clutch material it uses.. I wouldn't think it was enough surface area for leather... Nice big two groove V belt drive though.... Nice turnbuckle motor adjustment... It looks to me like the upper die is a nice big flat but the lower is a taper towards the front of the machine... for chisel or hammer bits? Also what do you make of the center ram guide bolts being so long? Sure looks nice though... SGropp
My guess is that the long guide bolts were to attach a cage guard around the front of the hammer. If this was coming out of a modern shop with employees , [subject to inspections] that would have been required by OSHA. Looks like a nice hammer ,well set up. Bentiron1946
I don't get any warnings when I go through my eBay account. It's up to $1,825 now. Nice looking machine if you want that kind of a powerhammer.
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
So now the question is: did you avoid the problem or did you just avoid the warning?
brian.pierson
the problem is on reliable's website not Ebay after re-reading the warning you posted Grant. So if you stick to Ebay you should be good.
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
Thanks Brian, better safe than screwed.
Bentiron1946
Yup, Reliable ain't all that reliable, eBay filters out the bad crap. If I go to it from Google I get all the warning crap too. Now it's $2,025. Anybody here bidding on it?
SGropp
It looks like it's got the metal on metal clutch. This is the same clutch style my 100#LG has although the hammer advertised is about 65 years younger. It does give a nice smooth action as long as you keep it wet with some light lubricant like kerosene or WD40 .
Bentiron1946
It's up to $2,600 now. I keep wondering how much further it will go.
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
I went to it thru Ebay and still got the warning. Go figure.
jeremy k
That hammer does not have the metal clutch - it's got the wood blocks for clutch pads (if you look close you can see the head of the carriage bolts through the spokes of the drive pulley that hold the blocks). You see the pulley and the blocks are on the back side of the pulley fixed to clutch spider keyed to the shaft. - JK Edited December 22, 2009 by jeremy k
Bentiron1946
Grant, You must have the most righteous anti-virus protection program on the planet! Last I checked it was still at $2600
brian.pierson
I went to it thru Ebay and still got the warning. Go figure. Grant, I am sorry I didn't explain that better. The link I had in here at the start takes you to Ebay. When you get to Ebay, there are links back to reliable tools. Your virus detection software sees the content from reliable and flags it. This is why you get the same warning and will continue to get that warning. Reliable is on a watch list dealing with all the stuff that you see on the warning. Now I will not swear that EBAY is 100% clean but they do have to keep a close eye on their site because they would be out of business otherwise. I am sorry I didn't explain that better. You should be safe visiting Ebay but I will not go to reliable tool site because of your warning. Thanks Brian
