Jeddly
Thanks! It seems there is a large wealth of info here, and I look forward to using this site as a reference for all my goings on in the garage.
David Einhorn
...all my goings on in the garage. Just be aware that there is a possibility that blacksmithing in your garage, attached to your house, *might* invalidate your homeowner's fire insurance. Jeddly
Thanks for the tip. As soon as summer/spring comes, I will be moving my forge and stuff outside. I might even build a small shed so that I can continue work outside during the long winter months.
Frosty
Hey people, how ya doin? I'm somewhat new to swinging hammers, and look forward to learning all I can about forging cool stuff. Welcome aboard Jeddly, glad to have ya. Uh, I see I needed to read all the intro posts before giving Kodiak some poop about his nickname. I'm just about 10 mins N of Wasilla though due to a recent injury I'm not doing any forging right now. If however you'd like to join the Association of Alaskan Blacksmiths let me know and I'll shoot you the info. Our next meeting is this january in Talkeetna. However, even without a visit to my shop I think I can help. Do NOT forge Cool stuff! get everything you're going to forge really HOT first, orange is okay, yellow is better.
