July 29, 200619 yr Does any one know where to pick up some good coal on the west side of Washington or even in the Portland, OR area? All I can get right now is heating coal and there is no way I will ever be able to weld with it.

July 30, 200619 yr Author thanks Glenn. The stuff I have been getting from Central Fuel in Chehalis is not what I would call quality blacksmithing coal. Tons of clinkers and rock. I use to get some of the prettiest stuff in the world from an outfit in Idaho but the drive would make it not worth it right now. I will check these other places out though. thanks again.
July 30, 200619 yr You may want to contact Mike-hr (Or) or Coalforge (Wa) to see where they get their coal.
July 30, 200619 yr 5 lb. of coal, 4 1/2 lb. of clinker! Trying to find dcent coal around here at a decent price is why I went to gassers.
July 31, 200619 yr I get my coal from the farrier's supply in Monroe, OR. Its excellent stuff. I bought some from Vally Farrier, but that was utter junk. some limestone got in with the coal and produced clinkers like you wouldnt believe.
