Uldergoff Posted July 22, 2009 Share Posted July 22, 2009 hello, im new to the whole blacksmith thing. any tips on how to forge weld? i allready have the 20 muleteam borax and attempted to weld flat scrap from the shop upon it'self but all it did was flatten out and not weld. tips would be great. oh yeah im 20, can mig, tig, and stick. been tigin since i was 5 (my dad taught me (i wanted to learn) i can weld aluminum, ss316,304 and carbon steel. now im trying to get used to forge welding for making knives etc. tips or websites that i can go to would be great. Steve Sells Posted July 25, 2009 Share Posted July 25, 2009 Welcome to I Forge Iron, There are a few thread in the forum, more in the knife sub sections about this, basically, we heat to yellow and tap gently, hitting to hard won't work too well.
