musk-rat
Hello everyone, first post on the board here. I joined the local blacksmithing club a few months back, currently working on building my first forge. The person I have been working with is out of town so I thought everyone on here could help me out. He told me I just needed an old steel wheel, but I have seen post on a sink forges also. I have an old stainless steel sink that I would like to use if it would work, smaller style one. 1. Can a stainless sink be used? 2. Will I need to line the sink with some type of refractory? 3. If so where could I find it. Thanks for the help

Charlotte
Check local pottery supply houses for fireclay. Goes for like 12 bucks a 50 lb bag. add some builders sand and you have a near bullet proof forge. The left over can by used as a basis for developing claying if you go to differential hardening knives.
