I use charcoal and I live in a surburban area and im living in a twin house... no problems with smoke at all I dont have a hood or a chimney though its just open outside the smokiest it gets is when lighting the paper once the charcoal is fired up it burns pretty clean except for a few sparks here and there from a clinker... but inside is a diff story for sure

seems a little big for a fire pot.. but then again maybe you ana use it for big stuff

fist post here as well but I figure nows better then ever... here i go.. lol Yes it will work yes you will need refractory..there have fun!!! ok fine ill give details earthen clay mixxed with wood ash and set to let dry works... or cheap kitty litter mixed with wood ash and water but you gona make sure its the kitty litter with out the clumping additive... do a search on here im sure stuff with come up.. and many more will answr besides me.
