July 9, 200916 yr Here's my rr spike hawk. Took it out camping and my 9 year old boy and his buddy managed to break it at the eye. I thought that would happen. The next one I make I'll bump up the eye area to give it a little (well a lot, he is 9) more meat. I didn't like the look of the beard at first, but after throwing it I found that it sticks really well. Handle is just a mop. Amazingly, that didn't break. Thanks for looking!
July 11, 200916 yr looks great how did you heat treat it ? did you just quench the edge or the whole lot
July 12, 200916 yr Author Quenched the whole thing. The eye was pretty thin. I'll bump it on the next one and try quenching just the edge.

July 12, 200916 yr sounds good, that way the eye will remain soft and unlikley to break, however it is still a nice peice
