Frosty
Natural fibers for clothing, NO synthetics they melt and deep fry you. VERY BAD. Leather over cotton or wool is most common. You won't need an aluminized fire suit till you get to iron or large quantities of bronze. It's pretty common for casters to cut leather flaps that cover their boot laces to keep molten metal out of their boots. There are commercial versions including caster's boots but a couple pieces of suede work just fine. Don't forget a good cap under your face shield. Welding suppliers sell them in lots of cool colors and patterns. In the pic I'm wearing my red and gold dragon welding cap. These aren't intended to be "fireproof" they keep hot debris out of your hair and give you a couple seconds to vacate and strip if something hits the fan. Your most important safety device is your brain. Never leave home without it. Frosty Edited May 28, 2009 by Frosty
