April 25, 200917 yr I am having trouble locating 3" square 4140 stock. I use it for dies on my powerhammer. The local dealer that handles tool steels has changed his inventory. He now saw cuts 3" plate into 3" width. I works but make it much more expensive. I live near Portland, Oregon. Any ideas? Thanks

April 25, 200917 yr You can also try Burgon tool steel. The link is on the ABANA website. Good service, and they do small quantities without a big deal. Mark
April 25, 200917 yr Try http://ww.speedymetals.com. It's there, and it's readily available. Just go to alloy and then square.
April 26, 200917 yr Why not buy round its cheaper and readily available. You have a power hammer. Forge it to square any size you require, within reason of course. Phil
