  1. Dave, you may have already seen this anvil, it was on FB marketplace last year at the trailer doctor in New Winchester. He said a couple of very knowledgeable guys looked at it. At the time he wanted a lot for it. I grabbed it when he lowered the price. Gary Dave, it certainly does have the shape of an Arm & Hammer by the look of some photos out there. The possible marking of "warranted" on the side is on a few anvil brands.
  2. I was thinking the same thing. The overall shape seems to be very similar to HB anvils and I read somewhere that the number 6 under the horn is a common HB marking. Does anyone know if the Hay Budden hardware store brands all have serial numbers just like the HB branded ones? I may unmount it and try to clean the base a bit more. Well, maybe not today, it's 21f out there!
  3. Thank you, I am very happy with it, no modifications intended or needed. It is a keeper, I'm just curious as to when and where it was made. Updated location.
  4. Hello! I picked up this anvil last year after using a loaned Peter Wright for a couple of years. It has great rebound and I'm quite happy with it after forging several blades. The face is straight and square. Attached are the photos from when I first picked it up and cleaned it. It has a lot of pitting which obscured the markings. In the photos you may be able to see a partial ARRAN or ARRAM which I am guessing to be what is left of 'WARRANTED'. There was another straight line of horizontal text above that but it has long since faded. Under the horn is stamped a number '6'. Hay Budden, Henry Wright? Trenton? Any ideas on the maker and age? Thank you!
