  1. For sure Steve! I will pick it up within two weeks. Just wondering about the logo. It seems to be part of the original cast.

haha TWISTEDWILLOW i doubt that too. Would be very special though! I will look up the mason jars for sure.

I will paint over this silver grey color with either some black or maybe some charcoal grey to make it match my shop.

I bought another drill press that is mechanicaly beyond repair to make a tong rack/post vice stand/swageblock stand out of.

Will post some pictures when that is done as well.

    Take care!

  2. Hi everybody,

It has been a little while since I have been postin anything new. I have come across a very nice, well running drill press and i wanted to know i somebody knows the brandname on this one.

The motor does not belong to the brand. I am just interested in the name of the drill press company.

Here are a couple of pictures.

    Thanks in advance!

    Alex

  3. Hi guys,

Yesterday I was so super lucky to find an August Refflinghaus Söhne anvil of 164 KG (361 lb).

I am pretty stoked about it. I just have one question. In the middle of the makersmark there is a 1. Does anyone know what this means? I have spoken with a couple of people that might knew but without any succes.

I hope someone knows anything about this 1 in the middle of the stamp.

    Thanks

    Alex

  4. Hi Frosty,

Haha I didn’t mean to let you think I was thinking that I was being ignored. It is just that I got a little bit more information from the owner and I wanted to share.

No rush! Enjoy the BBQs and other activities!

And yes Neil it does! I am going to contact him as well to check if he has some more info about it.

    Take care

Thanks for the list! I’m still looking for some sort of list with marks behind names. Maybe putting in some work to make one myself.

    Frosty

Nice! Did you put a steel wedge in across the whole width of the handle?

    TWISTEDWILLOW

I find them a lot. But mostly with a ball peen. I have one other straight peen hammer that i need to rehandle or put another wedge in.

It is not completely straight on the handle either. So i really need to fix this.

Do you have pictures. I always love to see other tools.

Thanks for the reply. The guy I bought it from said the S marking should be right under the table of the anvil. Only thing is, this anvil does not really have a table.

I’m at my workshop coming Monday again. So I will check the whole thing for markings and get back to you.

    Take care

  7. Hi everyone,

Recently i’ve purchased this German Anvil dating from 1927. The edges are super nice rebound is about 85/90%.

    It’s 275lbs.

The guy who sold it to me said there should be a big S marked on it. I haven’t found it yet. It would stand for the German word “Standard” or “default” in English.

Does anyone know more about these anvils. The guy still has the big brother of this anvil. Maybe I will pick this up as well since they were made together.

    Thanks

    Alex

    Thanks for the imput Bart.

I asked Joey a while ago. He told me it is indeed a “Gronings” model. But no knowlege about the markings. I really can’t find anything anywhere about this great beast…

    Irondragon

Thanks for the welcoming and the kind words and sorry for the late reply!

    I updated my profile.

Looking forwards to spend some more time on this Forum!
