BiNg! is even harder, Boink it will be then. Word of warning, being to scared something will happen usually leads to bad things happening (if you are scared to fall, you will fall).
  2. What part of Indonesia are you from? The trainer of my Silat trainer came from Krian. With how long the Dutch where over there it would be logical a few anvils made it over.
  3. That sounds like fun . At least you had system logs that told you what the user had done. I remember this one time I had to drive about 5 hours because a machine was not even turning on and the manager was 100% sure it was started up the correct way. All I had to do was walk around the machine and turn on the main switch (can't recall what you call it in English, you have those big 400VAC 5 pole wall sockets with a on/off switch on them) , the "not so smart man" had just looked at the wrong one. And instead of admitting his mistake he starts complaining about the bill I had to write the work I did. Another fun one, we where in Russia for some maintenance and the operators show us print-screens of the error log, in Russian, expecting us to just do something with it. Had to explain them again that they could just click the huge (and I mean HUGE) SAVE ERROR LOG button next to the RESET ERROR LOG so that the machine would save the error log in Dutch so we could actually do something with it. Last one, spending 4 hours trying to find a very weird error about a sensor not sending correct data (it just added a random number to the measurement). First thing I wanted to try was change out the PCB because I already rules out the sensor and cables. But like my boss said "those PCB's are never broken. Guess what was broken when I finally convinced everyone that it could only be the PCB.... 4 hours wasted.
  4. When I worked as a hydraulic mechanic I checked everything we used, even items that where made in house. In those 4 years I cannot recall a single batch being "perfect". Drove a lot of people insane by doing that, but then again, my machines never got their proportional valves damaged (things break when they do a one night stand with a 2um or bigger piece of anything, at $2000 a piece that is an expensive repair). Why do I get the idea those cables where at least a few hundred meters in length? Downtime is the worst, it costs you double...
  5. Or that the quality/tolerances are terrible. Even cheap local suppliers can give you absolute garbage. (I remember us getting hydraulic pistons that where just tossed into a crate after machining, scratches almost 0.5mm deep and some even covered in rust.) The further you go from home the harder it is to do any form of quality control or claim warranty.
  6. I need to reread those then because I cannot recall that.
  7. Why do you regret it? Only by trying do we know where our skills lie and what tools we need For a first time try it does not even look that bad, it serves its function.
  8. Since the part is so small, I think that if it is tumbled, all the sharp edges will be gone. You could just tell the manufacturer that all edged need to be around 0.1mm. The more precise you want that, the more expensive it gets. Normal tolerances are around +/- 0.2mm (which gives you about 0.4mm of play). Just curious, the part that is places between the screws, does it need to move or rotate? Another thing that just popped into my head, you say you want to make it from cast iron. Have you any idea what you want to do to make it not rust? And have you thought about the thickness of said rust protection / time it takes to remove any exces coating? (as an example, zinc coating leaves holes covered and is a nightmare in recessed holes.)
  9. Explain that one to me, over here that one just has a plain red cover.
  10. No love for the bowl of petunias? Or the very surprised sperm whale? Vogon poetry?
  11. Just looking at the design I wonder how those radiuses could be done by machining. Clamping it down would be a nightmare (any action on the arms would send vibrations everywhere and maybe break something), and for each action it needs to be repositioned. Almost makes me wonder if just machining the entire piece would be that much more expensive. Shaving a bit of the "arms" so that the .025mm radius is level instead of sloped would help, I wonder if it is even possible to do with a machine (if someone would want something like that I would rather grab a file).
  12. Steve, that video is amazing/disturbing, politically correct did not exist in that time. Its always such a joy seeing the Curmudgeons react to someone who has no idea what they are asking or reading the "read this first" section (maybe it needs to flash in large friendly letters, 2 points if you know where that is from) Making hollandiase is easy, just tell the wife that if she really loves you she should make it. 13. Soft firebrick are used because they can stand the temperatures and keep the the heat inside the furnace. I would not use anything else, normal bricks will crack from the heat and concrete will explode.
  14. Not only that, maybe that can also help with my Autism. Can't wait till then make a breakthrough with Neurolink.
  15. Lol, that is what makes reading hard for me, the words just won't stop bouncing all around. So maybe the filter will counter that and make it normal for me.
  16. That is very easy, just remove the head and all the inside bits.
  17. I had the opposite, once tried to open a cardbord box with my knife. Went pretty good until I found they had used wood on the inside to sturdy everything up. Cut the piece between my thumb and pointer about an inch deep, looked at the sting I felt in my hand and was greeted by Metacarpals nr. 2 who was just starting to get adjusted by the light.... So, there I am, staying pretty calm, on colleague turning white and another going into a panic. Another one grabbing a clean rag to wrap my hand and take me to the emergency center, first person who unwraps my hand is all cheerful "most of those cuts we can just glue..... Nope, your going to need stitches hunny" 4 stitches later, anesthesia that did nothing and waiting for 30 min for someone to bandage up my hand only to find out you get fired for not being able to work for about 2 weeks... Do you have no general practitioner (google told me that is what you call a house doctor" you can just visit? Those are pretty good over here for just small stuff.
  18. Anything over 10mm should be looked at by a professional, if only for getting a fresh Tetanus injection.
  19. Never had Peacock, but did have lamb once that was "cooked" by having it standing next to a very big fire for over 6 hours. Tender enough to be cut with a spoon. Getting "paid" with food is in the top 3 of ways to getting payed
  20. Should have gotten a ancient anvil (aka a rock) then, must be someone who would sell you that for a ridiculous price.
  21. try finding a anvil on this side of the pond is even harder. With extreme luck I found my Peter Wright in Belgium priced at $1,5 a pound, for an anvil 130+ years old she is in mint condition. For that price she was almost free. I have seen Vulcans go for $4 or $5 a pound. New anvils (if you can even find one) go between $7 and $10 a pound
  22. Hmmmm, Deimos reading about Deinos, I see what you did there. Its not so much the new pathways being made, its just that my Dyslexia makes reading a bit difficult, reading from a huge widescreen monitor is not making that any better .
  23. Teehee, I will go see if I can find some more links for you then *Muahahahaha* EMC, the biggest rabbit hole anyone can think of when dealing with electric motors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_compatibility And for good measure, here is one about pacemakers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_cardiac_pacemaker PS: I know how you feel, I have "wasted" the last 3 days watching video's about Dune (found the book in storage and now my wife is reading it) Can't not give an answer if she wants to know something so I have to buff up my knowledge about that universe, talk about a rabbit hole. Since reading hurts my brain I now tend to listen to other people talking about things I want to know more about.
