  1. I hear ya. this was my old setup back in the early 2000s. different blower different washtub. anvil was a big rectangular block of steel on a stump I could do everything sitting on a bucket. the bench had casters and I could wheel the thing out of the garage to the driveway to work. I need to build something similar for the new setup Frosty, all of my hammers and tongs are hanging on the inside of the shed doors, don't have a pic of that. here is my anvil.
  2. Thanks Frosty. I set up a post with 2x4 legs and made a makeshift dove tail outta wood scraps which will do for now. Got the first fire done, and it worked fine.
  3. Charcoal, George. The 4x4 should wok fir the blower I just need to figure out how to mount it to the post. There's no bolt hole like my old Buffalo blower. In looking at pictures of similar champions it seemed to mount to the side of the crank box. Like this
  4. I used to be a member of primal fires and used a washtub forge back in the early oughts, then switched to soft brick propane forges, then an actual blanket lined pot style propane forge. I eventually gave it all up when my daughter became my primary focus. I fiddled around last summer with the propane forge, bought and actual anvil but then needed to make some hardy tools for the anvil but most won't fit in my forge. Well, I started gathering supplies to build a new washtub forge. Started assembling last weekend and will do a test/drying fire tomorrow. I need to figure out a stand for the champion blower. And make hardware to mount my post vice. But it's coming along.
  5. this was my first anvil stand (and anvil). 2x12 scraps bolted and glued (liquid nails) together. never caught fire and I forge welded on the thing.
  6. LOL...this was just a campfire pit full of ash. (and a neo-bag bellows using a contractor bag.) lol
  7. I've had a no electricity shop for the last 16 years but am really hoping to get power to it before I retire. I'm ready to go late 19th century by now... is that (JAWOD) something like this, Nori Gob??? LOL

  9. So Glad to see this!...I miss my old 'Lively Forge', and miss Tim, and Thomas 'Bog Iron' Powers. 'Hickstick' here from the old Primalfires days. I hadn't forged anything in many years, but recently set back up my soft firebrick forge and hammered out a preform on saturday. god I miss it. wasn't the prettiest thing but this was my old Lively forge....
