  1. Thanks for the quick responses. I will definitely look into the screw jack option. I have quite a bit of the scaffold jack material, unfortunately it is 1 1/2" in diameter. The 1 1/8" rod is doable, but the price for a coupling nut is more than I really wanted to fork out at this point. So much for a quick-cheap project.
  2. There is probably already a thread on this, but where is a good place to get a short section of Acme allthread for a vise I am rebuilding? I need a 1-1/8" x 8" piece.
  3. Theses are the best I could do with my phone. Onto another tangent... would it be worth the effort to resurface the face and also repair the edges? Theses are the best I could do with my phone. 4. I am new to the forum and have a 208# Fisher anvil. With help from others on the forum it looks to have been made in 1924. What I don't have information on are the markings on the side next to the "FISHER" stamp. Would you be able to let me know what they signify? I will attach photos. Thanks for your time.

  5. Thank you all for the information. Irondragon, thanks for the link. I read up and will do my best in the future. I am old and impetuous, so don't be afraid to smack me upside the head when needed. Again, I appreciate the information and hope to bother you all again the the future. Have a wonderful and prosperous 2019!!
  6. I am new to the forum and have questions about a 208# Fisher anvil I purchased a couple of years ago. It looks to be in good shape and I enjoy using it when the need arises. Any information on the age and history would be helpful.
