  1. Thanks Peacock. That's what I thought. I do think the stretch provided by a leather strap would help the ram run straighter in its guides than what I have. The cushion isn't really being squeezed much- its old and set in a permanently squashed shape. The hammer really needs new cushions- the rear two aren't much better.
  2. My 75# Bradley guided helve hammer has a feature I haven't seen on any others: the ram is attached to the helve by a steel pin through the ram. Has anyone else seen this? All the other Bradleys I've seen pictures of have the ram attached with a leather belt. Wondering if mine came from the factory this way or was modified.
  3. Matt, that's a great idea. I was getting ready to ask Phil for a copy of the manual for myself, but if you are going to gather this stuff on a website, I'll save him the trouble. There are several Bradley owners on this site with a lot of great experience to share.
  4. When I contacted them, they said they were planning to continue selling back issues, so availability shouldn't be a problem. The online store is still open, too. Iron Clad: I believe they will give you store credit for the balance of your subscription. Blacksmith's Journal was unique. I think Jerry Hoffman recognized the need for a publication that addressed design as much as execution... and then did an outstanding job filling it.
