Beautiful. I'm building my first forge this week. I'm pretty excited to get working on Blacksmithing!

I'm a new guy like you. I'm looking to have my forge finished this weekend. I want to use tools that were only available to smiths in the 1900s-1800s. But bellows can get really spendy. Don't go cheap! spend the money (Seriously, don't waste it on junk from China just because it's $60). I've never smithed, I have 0 experience. Get a Bathroom fan while then once you get good, invest in tools. Listen to these guys, they know what they're talking about.

Hey ya'll! Its your friendly neighborhood Texan here! I've started the construction of my coal forge! Got a F250 Brake rotor, some scrap sheet steel, and some rebar. sizes: 30"x22" rebar frame It's all going to be welded together today. I'm not sure what to use for the legs... I'm just going to stack some cendar blocks for the time being. Picture: I'll update as I progress.

Thanks y'all for the warm welcome. I'm going to try to stay active on the forum. Frosty, I set my anvil at about my wrist height. I'm leaning towards going for a solid fuel forge. Any opinion on making a fire pot from a bakes?

Hey y'all! I'm a 23 year old Texan going to school in North Idaho/East Washington (border town). Went up to my local "big city" and picked up an anvil and now I'm going to try my hand at black smithing! I have propane and I have cender blocks, but I want something that is a little more permanent (but still mobile). I'm thinking of moving over to coal (know a guy who sells coal), but I don't know where to start.
