It is an early Little Giant 25lb model from 1910. I made a weekend pilgrimage up to Nebraska to purchase it from Sid Suedmeier. His restoration work is amazing. It has drawing dies in it currently. I don't have it running yet, as I ran out of time last night building the base. It will be operational later this week. For those ou you that have never met him, Sid is a really amazing guy. I'll post some pics of his 500lb LG later.

It's an old Hay Budden that must have broke ages ago. The repair is really, really old.

Has anyone here ever surfaced the jaws of their vise? Like as in grinding them completely smooth.

Why doesn't someone offer plans for a natural gas forge? I have a commercial building so bigger lines coming into the shop. The problem with propane is moving them outside overtime I'm done using them. I talked with my city inspector and he won't allow a large refillable external propane tank which would be fine with me, but he said since natural gas is available propane isn't an option. Even the midsize tanks being outside might be a possibility, but moving them to fill is a pita. I keep reading of natural gas forges that work, but no-one shares their plans. Help a brother out.

I bought my first over a year ago after searching for a nice one for a long while. 8 more have since found their way to me since then.

According to my info Lakeside anvils were made by Trenton for Montgomery Ward, as their own brand. I have one and it is a very good anvil.

just found the perfect base for my 200lb Trenton. I was at the scrapyard Monday and found this 100lb hollow stainless cylinder that I plan on filling with sand. The sweet thing was that I got the base basically for free, as I had a voucher for hauling in some old junk scrap a couple of months ago. I cut a top for it as the bottom is already sealed. The top is 1/4" stainless and once I fill it I will tack weld the top on and anchor the anvil.

I spoke with James, and he sounds like a great guy, there is just some allure to the old mechanical hammers.

Is 5k too much to pay for a completely rebuilt 25lb Little Giant? I know of one built by a well known builder and I need to decide this week. If I end up not using it as much as I hope I will
will I lose money at that price? Thanks in advance for the input.
