  1. I have a Canedy Otto Royal Western Chief blower that I have restored. When I got this rusted chunk of metal it was missing the counter balanced handle. Since Canedy Otto is out of business (since 1940's per my research ) was wondering where I can get the part? Or if anyone has parts that they are willing to sell, let me know. Thank you!
  2. Very cool set-up. Looks like your forge is similiar to mine. Did you have to clay it? Who is the manufactuer?
  3. I want to make my first set of tongs. Have been looking on-line for directions and instructions. Any suggestions? One method referred to some terms related to parts of a tong - not sure what they mean. They were boss, bit, shank, rein. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
  4. Just gettin' started in this and havin' a great time. tryin' to get my "shop" together. I have recently purchased an old forge and blower. I have done some research (which is very cool) and found info on the blower - Otto Canedy Western Chief, but not on the forge. All I can tell is that it has - "Clay foge before using". I have purchased some fireclay. My question is - how thick to apply the clay? what about around the fire pot ? What else am I not askin'? Having fun bringing these old tools to life again. Thank you in advance and God bless all of you Merry Christmas and Happy New year, Mike Buckeye Lake area Ohio Go Bucks!
  5. New to blacksmithing - just started around April. Made a few items, thanks to the help of my instructor. Have aquired a forge, blower, a few hammers and anvil. just got the anvil mounted and secured to the base. Need to clay the forge. Really excited about this craft and hope to continue the learning (which there is so much). So far I have been enjoyed restoring, or bringing back to life, the forge, blower and anvil. So I probably will be seeking much advice and asking questions, researching, etc. Thanks for this site!
